The HT Group  is partnering with a loan servicing firm in San Antonio who specializing in servicing Texas Tax Loans. We are seeking a financial controller, who will be responsible the direct management, coaching, and training of the accounting team.
The primary purpose of this role is to provide leadership and direction to the team to manage the general ledger, ensure completeness and accuracy, and prepare monthly consolidated financial statements

Responsibilities:

• Manages, coaches, and trains the accounting team
• Manages daily accounting operations for the team, including- billing, A/R, A/P, GL, and Revenue Recognition
• Reviews manual journal entries and supporting schedules as needed
• Reviews and approves daily banking transactions, review of daily bank activity and month end reconciliations
• Manages all bank accounts and prepares weekly cash forecast for Director of Finance & CEO

Monthly Reviews:

• Balance sheet reconciliations
• P&L budget vs actuals at both consolidated and departmental levels
• Analytics over revenues, cost of sales, and payroll expenses
• Portfolio reconciliation and posts necessary month end journal entries
• Prepares timely monthly financial reports for leadership team
• Assists with the preparation of the monthly board package and KPIs
• Assists with investigating and responding to regulatory inquiries as needed
• Ensures quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting
• Bank account reconciliations
• Bankruptcy customer account reconciliations
• Escrow customer account reconciliations
• Develops and documents business processes and accounting policies to strengthen internal controls
• Works directly with the external audit firm to ensure the annual audit is completed timely
• Assists the Director of Finance with preparation of the annual budget

Required Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting
• Proven work experience and skillsets as a financial controller or accounting manager or 5+ years overall combined public accounting experience as a manager/coach.
• Big 4 accounting experience preferred but not required
• Licensed CPA preferred but not required
• Strong people management/coaching skills to provide effective leadership to accounting team
• Thorough knowledge of accounting principles
• Experience with general ledger functions, month-end close process, and creating financial statements
• Strong analytical skills for use in analyzing financial statements and identifying trends
• Excellent accounting software user and administration skills
• Excellent and high-level skills with Microsoft Excel
